Hi! I’m 53 years old and have been watching (and been obsessed with) movies since I was a kid. That pattern has waned over the past few years, however. As I get older and more into my “comfort zone,” I enjoy fewer and fewer modern movies. However, I have voluminous opinions about movies from previous decades, so I’d like to share them here.
My credentials: For 11 years, I wrote a regular series of movie reviews for The Beaches Leader, a weekly community newspaper based in Jacksonville Beach, FL. On the basis of that series, I was voted First in Movie Criticism in 2003 and 2004 by the Florida Press Association.
As I wrote in the header, I’m not encyclopedic about the history of cinema; for that, I refer you to Leonard Maltin. However, at the very least, my writing is quite enjoyable when it comes to the movies I *have* seen. I hope you will agree.
I’ll start off the blog officially tomorrow, with a review to honor the 100th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin’s Keystone short comedy, “Laughing Gas.”
