Are you a fan of old-school physical comedy? When it comes to long laughs, do you prefer prankish pratfalls and slapstick sight gags to befouled bodily functions?
If so, join us and ring in autumn by celebrating your favorite pratfall with the SEE YOU IN THE ‘FALL’ BLOGATHON!!
BLOGATHON RULES:
1. Write a blog entry about your favorite moment of visual-media entertainment related to physical comedy.
(a) Your moment can be related to TV or movies.
(b) It can be but doesn’t have to be an entire movie or TV episode. It can be anything from a silent-era short subject to a modern-day feature film to a variety-show-related or Monty Python TV sketch, as long as it involves physical comedy.
2. Post the entry on your blog.
3. Go below to the “Comments” section for this blogathon, and post the URL for both your blog and your blogathon entry.
4. Grab one of the banners below, post it on your website, and link it back to the URL for this blogathon.
5. The blogathon will run from Sun., Sept. 20 through Wed., Sept. 23 (the first day of autumn), 2015. Once you have posted your URLs during that time frame, I will link my blogathon back to your blog and your ‘thon entry.
Have fun with your blog…and try not to slip up! Here’s the blog line-up so far. [If you are reading this blog entry after Sept. 19, 2015, click here for an updated list of links to the blogs listed below.]

Ok, I’m game. I do love a challenge, and physical comedy in noir is definitely a challenge. I’ll be writing about Shack Out on 101 (1955) and Keenan Wynn’s bizarre scene as a cafe owner trying out flippers, snorkeling mask, and a harpoon. Utterly weird and unexpected.

Sounds great! And weird, as you said!

Hey, Steve, I’m in! I’ll post something on the British series, Keeping Up Appearances (1990-5). I have several episodes in mind, but I’ll focus my piece when it gets closer. 🙂 Thanks! I really needed an excuse to cover Patricia Routledge!

Hey, I just realized that my piece for the blogathon might not meet the criteria of what you want. It becomes rather melancholy in the end and didn’t end up exploring what you laid out in the guidelines. May I change my entry to the chase at the end of Sherlock Jr?

Sure, that’s fine!

Hi Steve. Would “Bringing Up Baby” fit into this criteria??

Sounds fine to me. Go for it!

What time comedy are you after?

Actually Steve. I won’t do “Bringing Up Baby”, as that’s Screwball Comedy, and I have written about it in the past. I’ve been doing some looking into physical comedy, and that’s more Slapstick, so would I be able to do Charlie Chaplin in “Modern Times” ( 1936 )?

Will do. Put me down for that. I love it too.

Thanks Steve. Could I also do Patch Adams ( 1998 ) with Robin Williams as well as “Modern Times”?

Okay. I’d like to do the “setting up for rehearsal” scene from “The Sunshine Boys”. It’s not big, but it is delightful.

Hi Steve –
I’m going to attempt two of them if that’s allowed –
1. In the Movies – Laurel and Hardy in THE MUSIC BOX and the Stairs scene – on Once Upon a Screen
2. On TV – Dick Van Dyke and the Ottoman (this one on my Classic TV blog “How Sweet it Was”
If two is one too many then I’ll keep Laurel and Hardy. 🙂
