75 years ago today, “Puss Gets the Boot,” the first official Tom & Jerry cartoon, was released, starting 17 years of cartoon mayhem courtesy of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. A lot of people have huge waves of nostalgia over H-B’s TV output. Personally, when I compare the theatrical T&J cartoons to H-B’s arthritic-looking TV animation, I can hardly believe they were made by the same duo.
In any case, here’s a link to my all-time fave Tom & Jerry cartoon, the Oscar-winning The Cat Concerto (1947). If the ending doesn’t make you rock with laughter, see your doctor. (Sorry that the cartoon isn’t posted here, but I couldn’t find an online copy that would let me “embed” it.)

Thank you for that fun start to my day-didn’t realize Hanna and Barbera were the creators of the Tom & Jerry cartoons.
