Mel Blanc: 1908-1989

The world lost countless great voices when their creator, the versatile Mel Blanc, died 25 years ago today.

 

Blanc was best known, in no particular order, for his voice work in cartoons (Looney Tunes and “The Flintstones” are highlights) and his work in radio before that, much of it with Jack Benny (and on Benny’s TV series as well).

 

There are any number of clips that could show the man’s talent for versatility and hilarity. Here’s just one of the memorable ones, an ongoing bit on Benny’s show.
